Lakshmi is derived from the root word laks ( लक्ष्) and laksa ( लक्ष) which simply means “to perceive, observe, know, understand” and “goal, aim, objective” respectively. In fact, Goddess Lakshmi (also sometimes spelled as Laxmi) can be worshiped daily and the festival/celebration dedicated to her are Varalakshmi Pooja (Varalakshmi Fast / Varalakshmi Vrat), Diwali, Navaratri (also spelled as Navratri and Navarathri), and Sharad Purnima (also known as Kojaagari Purnima and Kumar Purnima).
